本劇分為五輯推出，故事均摘取自小說家蒲松齡膾炙人口之作「聊齋誌異」的精華部份。 這五輯故事包括有：畫皮、花姑子、三生、姬生及伍秋月等。故事藉鬼異事件諷諭人性、 描述宿世恩怨、以及揭開宮廷鬥爭內幕。。The C.I.A. discovers a Russian plot to assassinate five defectives on the Christmas Day, but they do not know who they are.
